In Too Deep follows undercover cop Jeffrey Cole as he infiltrates the criminal empire of Cincinnati's notorious drug lord Dwayne Gittens, known on the streets as 'God'. As Cole assumes a new identity to penetrate Gittens' operations, he begins to enjoy the power and lifestyle that comes with being a gangster. However, this enjoyment starts to cloud his judgment, making it increasingly difficult for him to maintain his cover and stick to his mission.
Directed by Michael Rymer in 1999, In Too Deep is an action-thriller based on true events that explore the dangers of undercover work and the moral complexities that arise when one steps too deep into a criminal world. The film stars Omar Epps as Jeffrey Cole and Nia Peeples as his partner, both determined to take down Gittens' empire. However, Cole's immersion in the gangster lifestyle begins to blur the lines between his identity as a cop and his assumed persona.
