She gained international recognition with 'Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands' (1976) which earned her a BAFTA nomination. Her roles in 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' (1985) and 'Moon over Parador' (1988) were Golden Globe nominated, while she received an Emmy nomination for 'The Burning Season' (1994). Braga was ranked #24 in The New York Times' list of the 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century in 2020.

Story

Tieta do Agreste follows the return of Tieta, who had been forced to leave her native village in Bahia years ago due to an affair with a goatherd. Her family believes she is dead and expects to inherit her riches when she fails to return. However, Tieta resurfaces from São Paulo with a surprise – a young stepdaughter and no wealth.
