Story

Romasanta follows Manuel Blanco Romasanta, a traveling vendor who confessed to murdering thirteen people and using their body fat to make soap. The story begins with an uproar caused by the discovery of mutilated cadavers, giving rise to the legend of the 'Werewolf of Allariz'. Romasanta, attractive and charming, leaves a trail of victims as he travels through villages, with a woman from each awaiting him. His most recent victim is Barbara, one of four sisters, who becomes the lone survivor and pursues him relentlessly. The film is set in 19th-century Spain and culminates in Romasanta's trial in Allariz, where he escapes capital punishment by claiming to be a werewolf.
