Stana Katic, born Stana Ladjeragic in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to Serb parents who emigrated from Croatia, started her acting career in theater at Trinity College School and later graduated from DePaul University Goodman School of Drama. She gained recognition for her roles as Kate Beckett on 'Castle' (2009–2016) and FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne in 'Absentia' (2017–2020), earning awards including a People's Choice Award and a Primetime Emmy nomination.
