Story

In 18th century France, Marquise de Merteuil persuades her former lover, Vicomte de Valmont, to seduce Cécile de Volanges, the future wife of Count Noiré, with whom Merteuil had previously been involved. Merteuil's motive is revenge against Noiré and also a desire for one last encounter with Valmont. However, their plan becomes complicated when Valmont begins to genuinely fall for Cécile, while simultaneously attempting to seduce Madame de Tourvel at the request of her confidante, Madame de Rosemonde. Meanwhile, Merteuil manipulates a young man named Danceny into writing love letters to Cécile, adding further intrigue to their scheme.
