Career Highlights:
Rose McGowan (born Rósa Arianna McGowan on September 5, 1973) is an American actress, director, and activist. Born in Italy to American parents, she was raised within the Children of God cult until her family left for the U.S. when Rose was 10. After moving to Oregon, she faced bullying at school and rebelled against her family. At age 15, McGowan emancipated herself legally from her parents and lived in a squat with drag artists before relocating to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Her breakthrough role came as Amy Blue in Gregg Araki's 'The Doom Generation' (1995), for which she was nominated for Best Debut Performance at the Independent Spirit Awards. Throughout the 90s, McGowan appeared in films like 'Scream', 'Jawbreaker', and 'Charmed'. Despite her success as a sex symbol, she struggled with finding mainstream roles. In 2015, she announced her departure from acting due to industry trauma and launched her activism career under the Rose Army banner. Her debut film 'Dawn' premiered at Sundance in 2015.

In the small town of Austin, Texas, an experimental bio-nerve gas accidentally leaks from a nearby military base during a graveyard shift at a local hospital. The gas turns those exposed into flesh-eating, mutating zombies, dubbed 'sickos'. Among the first victims are Cherry Darling, a dancer who loses her leg, and her ex-boyfriend El Wray. As the town becomes overrun by these creatures, Cherry and El Wray join forces with other survivors including a strong-willed doctor and the local sheriff to fight off the attackers and save themselves from being turned into 'sickos' as well.
Planet Terror is a 2007 horror-action film directed by Robert Rodriguez. It's known for its grindhouse style, which includes intentional 'damaged film' effects like scratches and missing reels. The movie is centered around an accidental bio-nerve gas leak at a military base that turns people into zombies. The story follows Cherry Darling, a dancer who loses her leg and must fight to survive alongside other unlikely heroes.
