Synopsis
In 'Une chambre en ville', François leaves his pregnant girlfriend Violette to pursue a passionate affair with Edith, a wealthy woman who lives in the same boarding house where he rents a room. Their love is intense but brief; they spend only one night and day together before François is fatally shot during a workers' demonstration. Throughout the film, every line of dialogue is sung, and the music is described as closer to opera than Demy's previous musical films.
