Synopsis
In late 17th century France, the renowned viola da gamba player Monsieur de Sainte Colombe returns home to find his wife deceased. Consumed by grief, he retreats into a small house in his garden with his two young daughters Madeleine and Toinette, dedicating himself solely to music while avoiding the outside world. Despite his isolation, rumors of his talent reach the court of Louis XIV who invites him to join Jean-Baptiste Lully's orchestra. However, Sainte Colombe refuses. One day, Marin Marais arrives seeking to learn the viola from Sainte Colombe.
