Synopsis
In 'The Imperialists Are Still Alive!', Asya, a Middle Eastern conceptual artist living in Manhattan, finds herself torn between her political activism and her relationship with Javier, a Mexican man she meets at nightclubs. As Israel shells Beirut where her brother resides, Asya fears arrest for her pro-Palestinian sympathies. Her friend's fiancé goes missing, suspected of rendition, adding to the tense atmosphere. Meanwhile, Asya navigates her complicated feelings for Javier amidst warnings from others about her associations. Throughout this political turmoil and personal drama, Asya struggles with whether she can pursue both her art and relationship while the imperialists are still alive.
