Synopsis
Penny Dreadful weaves together classic horror origin stories set in Victorian London. The series begins with Sir Malcolm Murray hiring John Clare to find his missing daughter, Mina, who was last seen on an expedition in Africa. Meanwhile, Vanessa Ives, a young woman haunted by supernatural encounters, seeks help from Dr. Seward at her asylum. Frankenstein's monster is brought back to life by Dr. Victor Frankenstein and escapes with a murdered child's heart. Dorian Gray commissions a painting that captures his youth but hides his sinister actions.
