Synopsis
Otilia Rauda, a young woman with an ideal body but marred by an ugly mole on her face, grows up friendless except for Melquiades, a family employee. Don Isaac, a wealthy landowner, arranges Otilia's marriage to Isidro, the local police chief. Isidro is cruel and infects Otilia with a venereal disease that renders her sterile.
