Synopsis
Once Upon a Time in America follows David 'Noodles' Aaronson, a former Jewish gangster who returns to the Lower East Side of Manhattan after being away for over three decades. Noodles had left his childhood friends and partners-in-crime, Max, Patsy, and Cockeye, behind during their rise to prominence in New York's Prohibition-era. Upon his return, Noodles reunites with his only living friend, Fat Moe, but is haunted by his past and the content of a mysterious leather suitcase. The film explores Noodles' quest for closure, interweaving flashbacks of his life with his friends, their crimes, and the eventual betrayal that led to his exile.

Résumé
Directed by Sergio Leone in 1984, Once Upon a Time in America is an epic drama set against the backdrop of New York City's Prohibition-era. The film is based on Harry Grey's semi-autobiographical novel 'The Hoods'. It explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, regret, and the passage of time through the story of Noodles Aaronson, a Jewish gangster trying to come to terms with his past.
