Synopsis
Alfred Kinsey (Liam Neeson), Jr., known as 'Prok', develops an early interest in biology despite his father's disapproval. He grows up to become a biology professor at Indiana University, initially studying gall wasps but later shifts his focus to human sexuality due to questions from his students and his desire for honest sexual education. With the approval of faculty head Herman Wells (Oliver Platt), Kinsey starts teaching a popular marriage course discussing sex openly. Observing discrepancies between morals and sexual behavior, he decides to conduct a massive sex survey with assistance from students Wardell Pomeroy (Chris O'Donnell), Clyde Martin (Peter Sarsgaard), and Paul Gebhard (Timothy Hutton). The film follows Kinsey's struggle for funding and public acceptance of his controversial research while also exploring the personal implications on his marriage with Clara 'Mac' McMillen (Laura Linney).
