Synopsis
Jay, a failed musician turned head bartender in a London pub, engages in weekly wordless sexual encounters with an anonymous woman at his house every Wednesday afternoon. One day, curiosity gets the better of Jay and he follows her home after their usual rendezvous. He discovers that she is married and lives in a nearby council estate. Their relationship becomes strained when Jay begins to inquire about her personal life, risking the destruction of their purely physical connection.

Résumé
Intimacy (2001), directed by Patrice Chéreau, is a French-German-British erotic drama film based on Hanif Kureishi's novel 'The Body'. The movie explores themes of anonymity, desire, and the complexities of human relationships through its portrayal of Jay, played by Mark Rylance, and his anonymous lover, played by Kerry Fox. Set in London, the film is a part of the New French Extremism movement, known for pushing boundaries with explicit content and darker themes.
