Synopsis
Caleb, a small-time thief and self-proclaimed magician living in Galilee during Jesus' time, becomes jealous when he witnesses Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding feast. He sees Jesus as a rival and tries to outdo him by stealing a valuable necklace but ends up losing it. He then meets Deborah with whom he shares his life. Throughout the story, Caleb remains fascinated by Jesus, still believing him to be a more skilled magician than himself. Ultimately, Caleb is accused of an old theft and crucified alongside Jesus.

Résumé
Il ladrone (1980) is a comedy film directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile set during the time of Jesus Christ in Galilee. The story follows Caleb, a thief who considers himself a magician, as he interacts with and becomes jealous of Jesus' miracles. The movie explores themes of rivalry, jealousy, and misunderstanding between Caleb and Jesus. It also touches upon the idea of people misinterpreting Jesus' miracles as magic tricks.
