Synopsis
Il conformista (The Conformist) follows the story of Marco Tullio (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a homosexual schoolteacher who joins the Fascist Party to hide his sexual orientation in Mussolini's Italy. To prove his loyalty, he agrees to spy on and help assassinate his former professor, Luca Quadri (Gastone Moschin). Marco falls in love with Luca's wife, Anna (Dominique Sanda), but their relationship becomes complicated when they travel together to France for the assassination attempt.
