Synopsis
In Michael Cimino's 'Heaven's Gate', Harvard graduate James Averill (Kristy McNichol) arrives in prosperous Jackson County, Wyoming, as the new sheriff. The region faces a brewing conflict between its poor immigrant farmers and wealthy cattle barons who hire mercenary Nathan Champion (Christopher Walken) to protect their interests. As tensions escalate, Averill becomes involved in this struggle while also being drawn into a love triangle with Champion and local brothel owner Ella Watson (Isabelle Huppert). Throughout the narrative, Averill grapples with his idealistic views as he confronts the harsh realities of the situation.
