Synopsis
In 'Heat and Dust', the contemporary storyline follows Anne as she investigates the life of her grand-aunt Olivia. The search leads Anne back to the early 1920s India where Olivia, newly married to British civil servant Douglas, becomes fascinated with India and its local ruler, a Nawab who embodies both British distinction and Indian pomp. Meanwhile, Olivia's life intersects with that of the Nawab amidst political tension between the British community and the Nawab. As Anne delves deeper into her grand-aunt's history, she reflects on her own life.
