Synopsis
In a dystopian future formerly known as the United States, Kate, a fertile woman, is sentenced to become a Handmaid due to her attempt to escape. Her new role is to bear children for influential men whose wives are infertile due to pollution. After rigorous training by 'Aunt' Lydia, Kate is assigned to the Commander. Meanwhile, she develops feelings for Nick, the Commander's chauffeur. As Kate navigates her new life and relationship with Nick, a resistance movement against the regime begins.

Résumé
The Handmaid's Tale (1990) is a dystopian film directed by Volker Schlöndorff, based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name.
