Synopsis
The Cole family's lives are shattered when their two teenage sons die in a car accident. Marion Cole withdraws from her husband Ted and daughter Ruth, while Ted, a renowned children's book author, becomes distant and turns to writing adult novels. Ted hires Eddie O'Hare, a college student who bears an uncanny resemblance to one of the deceased sons, as his assistant for the summer. Meanwhile, Marion begins an affair with Eddie, while Ted has an affair with their neighbor Evelyn. The arrival of Eddie disrupts the family's dynamics, forcing them to confront their grief and the state of their marriage.
