Synopsis
In 'Criminal Law', wealthy defendant Martin Thiel stands trial for murder with attorney Ben Chase acting as his defense lawyer. Despite the brutal nature of the crime, Thiel is acquitted by a jury. However, barely a day later, another murder occurs with similarities to the first one. Chase surprisingly agrees to defend Thiel again but this time, his goal is not to secure an acquittal but to gather evidence that will definitively convict his client.

Résumé
Directed by Martin Campbell in 1988, 'Criminal Law' is a Canadian thriller that explores the complexities of legal ethics. The film follows Boston attorney Ben Chase who finds himself entangled in a high-profile murder case involving wealthy defendant Martin Thiel. After Thiel's acquittal, another similar murder occurs, leading Chase to question his client's innocence and ultimately his role as a defense lawyer.
