Synopsis
Carlotta tells the life story of Carlotta, born as Richard in Balmain, Australia. Raised working class, Richard struggles with his gender identity from an early age. In the turbulence of the sixties and seventies, he embraces his true self, adopting the name Carlotta and becoming a prominent drag queen performer at Les Girls in Kings Cross. Despite facing societal rejection and the threat of criminal prosecution, Carlotta becomes a household name, daytime TV star, and symbol of generational change.
