Synopsis
The movie 'Broken Circle Breakdown' begins with Elise (Veerle Baetens), a tattoo artist, and Didier (Johan Heldenbergh), a banjo player in a bluegrass band, falling in love at first sight. They bond over their shared enthusiasm for American music and culture and soon marry. Elise becomes pregnant, and they welcome a daughter named Maybelle into their family. The couple's world is shattered when tragedy strikes their young daughter. Throughout the film, we witness how this loss threatens to destroy the love and faith of the married musicians.

Résumé
Directed by Felix van Groeningen in 2012, 'Broken Circle Breakdown' is a Belgian-Dutch romantic melodrama that explores the intense relationship between Elise and Didier from beginning to end. The film is propelled by a soundtrack of foot-stomping bluegrass music. However, it's also a story about resilience in the face of tragedy, as the couple struggles with the loss of their daughter Maybelle.
