Synopsis
In 1940s Los Angeles, two former boxers-turned-cops, Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard, investigate the gruesome murder of a young actress named Elizabeth Short, known as the 'Black Dahlia'. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a web of corruption, stag films, and family madness. Résumé
Brian De Palma's 'Black Dahlia' (2006) is a neo-noir thriller based on James Ellroy's novel of the same name. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, the film follows two former boxers who now serve as cops, Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard, as they hunt for the killer of aspiring actress Elizabeth Short, whose murder earned her the grim nickname 'Black Dahlia'. The movie explores themes of corruption, power dynamics, and the dark underbelly of Hollywood's golden age.
