Synopsis
Hana Doda, still a girl, escapes her destiny of being a wife and servant in the inhospitable mountains of Albania by appealing to the old law of Kanun and swearing eternal virginity, becoming a 'sworn virgin' named Mark. This sacrifice allows Hana to be considered equal to men, but it means rejecting love. After over ten years living as Mark in solitude, Hana decides to change her life and leave the mountains. In modern Milan, she struggles to readapt as a woman, reconnects with loved ones, and experiences forbidden love.
