Synopsis
Storia di Piera is a complex narrative revolving around the incestuous relationship between a mother and daughter, Eugenia and Piera Degli Esposti. The story unfolds in a small provincial Italian town where Eugenia, a liberated woman with a penchant for zooming around on her bicycle and engaging strangers at the train station, lives with her spaced-out husband, Professor Lorenzo. Still a grown child, Piera is drawn into her mother's sexual exploits with other men, leading to both physical health issues and emotional instability. This unconventional lifestyle takes its toll as Eugenia is repeatedly committed to psychiatric clinics. By the time Piera grows up, both of her parents are institutionalized in separate mental hospitals, each exhibiting sexually eccentric behaviors.
