In 'Maladie d'amour', two physicians named Raoul and Clément both fall in love with Juliette, a hairdresser who lives a bohemian lifestyle. Initially, Juliette is involved with Raoul, but she eventually becomes more attracted to Clément. Raoul, however, tries to manipulate the situation by playing on Clément's guilt and Juliette's insecurity. When Juliette decides to leave Clément, he asks her to have his baby and takes her away to live in the provinces with him. However, Juliette panics and leaves Clément again, returning to Raoul. By the end of the film, Juliette has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, leading Raoul to believe that she is suffering from a 'malady of love'. The question remains whether there can be a cure for this condition.
