Synopsis
Gabrielle, a young woman from a small village in the South of France, is married to José, a Spanish farm worker chosen by her parents. Despite José's devotion, Gabrielle remains unconvinced that she can love him and feels trapped within societal expectations following World War II. She develops kidney stones, leading her parents to send her away to the Alps for healing. There, she meets André Sauvage, an injured veteran who stirs her long-buried passions. Gabrielle promises they will run away together, but his true intentions remain unclear.
