Synopsis
L'amica geniale begins with Elena Greco, an elderly woman living alone in her house filled with books, deciding to start writing about her life and that of her friend Lila. The story then flashes back to their childhood in Naples during the 1950s. Elena and Lila become friends at school and their bond deepens as they grow up together in a dangerous but fascinating neighborhood. Throughout the series, we follow their friendship through various stages of their lives, spanning sixty years, as it faces numerous challenges due to the societal norms of the time, class differences, and personal choices made by Elena and Lila.
