Synopsis
In French Colonial Vietnam in 1929, a young French girl named Christine from a financially struggling family travels alone to her boarding school on public transportation. She catches the eye of a wealthy Chinese businessman, Huynh Thien Qui, who offers her a ride into town in his chauffeured car. The two form a passionate affair that transcends social conventions and class restrictions.
