Synopsis
Michael was once a successful tennis player who started gambling and lost his fortune. In a final bet, he loses his wife Julia to Howard, a casino owner and slave trader. Julia leaves Michael willingly and takes up with Howard. Sylvia, Julia's best friend and Michael's mistress, convinces him to kill his wealthy aunt Lady Henriette for her inheritance. Unbeknownst to Michael, he is Lady Henriette's illegitimate son. Before Michael can act on Sylvia's plan, Lady Henriette is killed by her servant. Peggy, a private investigator hired by Lady Henriette, becomes involved and warns Michael about Julia and Sylvia's plot to murder him.

Insel der tausend Freuden (Island of a Thousand Joys) is a 1978 comedy-drama film directed by Hubert Frank. Set in the sun-soaked Seychelles, the story revolves around professional tennis player Michael who descends into gambling addiction after his success wanes. His life spirals out of control when he loses his wife Julia to Howard, a casino owner with nefarious dealings as a slave trader. Michael's mistress Sylvia manipulates him into plotting against Lady Henriette, his aunt and beneficiary. However, things take a turn when Lady Henriette is killed by her servant before Michael can act.
